After the World War I, the cars and the equipment belonging to the Royal, Bavarian and Württemberg postal services were handed over to the Deutsche Reich postal service.
The post cars of the former Royal Württemberg postal service were now under the command of the Stuttgart postal district. The Württemberg post cars differed from the others due to their sliding doors on the side. The Prussian and Bavarian post cars had swing doors.
