From 1994 onwards, the 232 series locomotives which were generally inspected in Cottbus received a new paint in the then fashionable oriental-red colour. The colour distribution, however, was oriented towards the prior state so that the locomotives looked very pleasant. After trials with a small biblike white field, among others on the 234 304, the 232 264 was the first Locomotive to receive the oriental-red paint with a large bib-like white field. But here also, the solebar as a part of the undercarriage was still painted in grey-brown for visual effect. Evidently, this did not meet with all people's approval, and so the solebar had also to become oriental- red according to the colour concept.
