The E 77 built for the Bavarian Group Administration were all based at the main railway station depot in Munich and were mainly used there for freight train service. Whereas the engines were painted in the brown livery of the Bavarian Group Administration at the beginning, from the 1930s onwards they were painted in the blue-grey, which was traditional at that time. When the DRG was nationalized by the new rulers, the national emblem was added from 1932 onwards. Already before 1945, the complete stock in Bavaria was replaced with the newer E 75 of the central German network.
