Everyday railway maintenance work often requires the fast and unbureaucratic transportation of small quantities of materials or tools. It would be too complicated to use a locomotive with freight car. Track cars and, later on, rail trucks were used in the early days. After the Second World War, a special vehicle was developed for this purpose.
