Almost all the remaining 54.8-11 units in the Soviet occupation zone were in the scrapyards. The available refurbishing capacity was allotted to more modern locomotives, so none of these damaged locomotives came back into operation. PKP locomotives were returned there by 1955, and the rest were scrapped. The last operational original G 5.4 was 54 887, which was in service in Schöneweide until 1951.
