When in 1933 electrical rail cars were needed for the suburban service in Stuttgart, the plans for the passenger space were oriented on the advanced concept from 1919. The existing steel construction type double cars were converted to centre cars for the rail car. In addition to the electrical equipment, they were also given the appropriate coat of paint for the rail car. In this design, the double cars were used in the Stuttgart suburban service until 1961.
