

Some of the early private railways in Switzerland purchased “American-style” four-axle vestibule cars. Around 300 of these cars were still in existence when the SBB was founded in 1902. The last example of what was then an 82 year-old carriage did not disappear from the SBB’s railways until 1941, and a few oth-ers remained in service as part of construction trains.
