The steel construction type baggage cars have proved to be extraordinarily robust. Many of them survived the Second World War and came to the DB. Initially, the Deutsche Bahn could not do without these proven and practical vehicles. It was only when sufficient new baggage cars became available that the old iron ones were ousted from the express train service.
