The very modern standard secondary line coaches were used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn behind locomotives of all traction types, not least due to their being equipped with electric train heating. However, their active service with the DB ended in the mid-1960s and they were gradually replaced by converted and new coaches. Some of the short two-axle coaches were also used as work train cars or caravans.
