Info about the original
The construction of railway lines in the Black Forest put an end to the centuries-old practice of log rafting. From then on, the timber was transported by rail. The trunk wood was transported in log cars. They were generally coupled in pairs and, when the logs were especially long, they were connected via cou-pling shafts. The number of log car pairs, their position in the train and the distribution of brake cars was precisely stipulated for every route.
